The MDV-MX12F is the 2025 flagship model of the TYPE M series, the top-of-the-line series in the Saisoku Navi car navigation series offered by the KENWOOD brand. The model features an industry-first large-screen display with Mini LED backlighting, and a completely redesigned GUI for the operation screen, delivering an unprecedentedly immersive visual experience and ease of use. JVCKENWOOD Design handled the GUI and product design for this product.

Since the release of the first model in 2011, the "Saisoku Navi" series has been updated to meet the needs of drivers while adding various functions to keep up with the changing times. Leveraging the strengths of the series, such as high-definition, high-resolution LCD screens and fast response that enables intuitive operation, we have consistently worked to the present day to design in-car devices that support the safety and security of drivers.

The MDV-MX12F is the 2025 flagship model that follows the series' identity while undergoing further updates. Based on the concept of "large screen, high image quality for a wide range of vehicle models," it is the first in the series to feature a large 10V display. Equipped with our proprietary high-definition HD panel, the Diamond Array Display, it enables a visual experience with deeper dark areas and more vivid bright areas. 

Redesigned user interface for improved ease of use and clarity.

A major feature of the operation screen of the "Saisoku Navi" series is its GUI design, which is thoroughly easy to use and understand, allowing drivers to operate the device without getting lost while driving. The GUI incorporates a three-dimensional expression that gives the buttons a sense of presence, and allows users to instantly reach the desired action. To further refine this feature, the entire GUI design has been reviewed from scratch, optimizing the operation screen layout and screen transitions, thereby achieving even greater usability. 

Furthermore, to give the product a unique KENWOOD brand feel, the various icons on the operation screen incorporate designs that express the company's legacy as an audio manufacturer. Taking advantage of the high-contrast screen that allows for a sense of black, a feature of the Mini LED display used in this model, we aimed for a simple yet elegant GUI design by limiting the number of colors and emphasizing light and dark.

To realize the concept of this model, "large screen, high image quality for a wide range of vehicle models," in the product design, it was necessary to balance a minimal casing that would ensure as large a screen size as possible with the strength required for in-car equipment that could withstand vibrations while driving. At the same time, a minimalist design was required to blend in with the interior of any vehicle, and the finger grip below the display was also designed to have a shape that naturally supports user operation. 

As with GUI design, we are also committed to expressing the identity of the KENWOOD brand in product design. While incorporating the delicate lines that are characteristic of KENWOOD brand products, we use metals that express the luxury of a flagship model, and we are practicing product design that delivers the KENWOOD brand user experience to a wide range of vehicle models.
