Design consulting that pioneers the future of mobility together with clients

In addition to designing car accessories for the group's product brands, JVCKENWOOD Design also works on consulting projects with automakers as clients. In addition to proposing new concepts that look to the future of mobility, we provide a wide range of support, from running design thinking workshops and team building to accompanying them through specific product development processes.

Exploring new user experiences in response to diversifying lifestyles

The automotive industry has been undergoing a period of major change in recent years, and product development that is not bound by conventional thinking is becoming increasingly required. In the consulting project undertaken by JVC Kenwood Design, we aim to create new user experiences not only within the vehicle interior but throughout the entire mobility experience, leveraging our knowledge of B2B in-vehicle equipment as well as our track record in developing B2C products cultivated through the "JVC," "KENWOOD," and "Victor" product brands.

As lifestyles continue to diversify at an accelerating pace due to changes in the digital environment, we believe that our people-centered design consulting practice will contribute to the creation of universal user experiences in the mobility field. By making essential proposals based on an understanding of human cognition and emotions, we are exploring new forms of mobility experiences for future lifestyles.

Utilizing knowledge from cutting-edge technology research projects in consulting

In addition to our core business centered on communications, video, and audio technologies, we also focus on advanced development and R&D through our own in-house planning. We actively conduct cutting-edge technology research to envision the user experience of the future, as well as original designer-led projects, and use the new knowledge gained through these projects to inform our consulting proposals.

In addition, an exhibition is held every year at the JVCKENWOOD Design office to present the results of the projects, inviting not only JVCKENWOOD Group companies but also clients and other companies. Dialogues sparked by the exhibition often lead to the birth of new co-creation projects.

Building flat relationships that allow for repeated dialogue

The consulting projects we undertake vary in duration and scope. We sometimes consult with clients even before they begin concrete product development, and we help manufacturers and brands clarify and articulate their essential value through design thinking workshops, team building, global research to understand society, the environment, and customers, and concept visualization using computer graphics and video.

In long-term projects where we actually work on product development, we not only propose product concepts and designs, but also conduct proof-of-concept (PoC), create mockups, and conduct in-depth interviews with potential users. In accompanying clients through all processes up to launch, it is important to build a flat relationship that allows for repeated dialogue. As part of a project responsible for the development of manufacturers and brands, we are challenging ourselves to open up the future of the mobility industry together with our clients.
