JVCKENWOOD Design operates "Forest Notes," a live streaming service that allows users to listen to live forest sounds over the Internet 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from microphones installed in forests across Japan.
We are pleased to announce the launch of our high-resolution audio streaming service"PrimeSeat"As an experimental streaming service in collaboration with Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (hereinafter "IIJ"), which provides the service, we have begun offering a free "high-resolution audio live streaming" service in collaboration with Tokyo University of Agriculture, which has an experimental forest in Okutama, Tokyo, allowing you to listen to the sounds of the Okutama forest in high quality.

The free high-resolution audio service can be accessed by downloading the software for "PrimeSeat," a high-resolution audio streaming service operated by IIJ, onto your PC (Win/Mac) or iOS (iPhone/iPad) device. What are the sounds of the forest in high-resolution quality?

The sounds of the forest include a wide variety of creatures, as well as the sounds of leaves rustling, rain, and dripping water, all of which are extremely delicate and detailed. High-resolution audio sources reproduce the intricate sounds of the forest in high resolution, giving you a sense of realism, such as the expanse and depth of the forest, and even the sound of its breathing, making you feel as if you are in the forest of Okutama.

"Forest Notes Okutama Project"　　

The "Forest Notes Okutama Project" was launched by JVCKENWOOD Design, Jun Kitamura Architects, and Tokyo University of Agriculture with the objectives of promoting the utilization of forest resources throughout Tokyo's Okutama region, linking with tourism, and conducting research at the Okutama Experimental Forest of Tokyo University of Agriculture. The project is collaborating to utilize JVCKENWOOD's expertise in sound, video, and communications to increase the added value of timber resources, promote wood education activities in Tokyo, and enhance the appeal of forests and promote tourism. The project is also considering using the audio from livestreaming to verify the effects of forest bathing, record seasonal changes in ecosystems (phenology), and conduct forestry research through video analysis.

This project is one of"Forest Dome: Sounds of the Forest"is a project that delivers the "live forest sounds" and scents of Okutama to various facilities, event venues, offices, and other locations in the city. The walls and entire frame vibrate, enveloping the interior of the dome in the sounds of the forest, providing a soothing time and space where people can feel close to the forest even in the city. By making effective use of thinned wood rather than discarding it, we hope to inspire people to think about a recycling-oriented lifestyle that goes beyond mere consumption.
(FOREST DOME was designed by Jun Kitamura Architects and won the 2016 Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Good Design Award and the 2016 Forestry Agency Wood Design Award. This time, the project "Forest Dome" by the three parties wasForestry Agency Wood Design Award(Heartful Design Category)
